Hope

We don't just provide loans...we inspire hope

At CareLink, we believe in the power of microfinance loans to empower women, change lives, and improve communities. But are we really in the “lending money” business? No, not primarily. The most important thing we provide these courageous and inspiring women is, hope.

Hope for the future. Hope that their lives will finally improve. Hope that their children will have a better shot at life than they did.

For many of the women we serve, the power of a bit of business training, and a relatively modest investment, empowers them to believe in themselves for the very first time. Their self-esteem skyrockets when they successfully complete their mandatory training. Blessed with the gratitude of a fresh start, and backed by people who care about them deeply, these hard-working women are destined to succeed! They will pull themselves out of extreme poverty, and create opportunities for their children.

Consider Bessie. A young mother of two handsome young boys, one of which has special needs. Abandoned by her husband, she was determined to not give up. Motivated by a CareLink microfinance loan of $3,000, she enrolled in baking school and is now ready to achieve her dream of owning her own business; a small store-front bakery near downtown Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Our loan provided Bessie with a commercial mixer, an oven, and enough materials to get a good start. Most importantly, our investment in Bessie helped her experience hope for the first time, in a very long time.

Way to go Bessie!
