Community
One of the reasons that Microfinance is such an effective and transformative tool is because it leverages the power of “community”
“Iron Sharpens Iron!”
You have heard most of the phrases…”two heads are better than one”, “success breeds success”, “there is safety in numbers”, and “the sum is greater than the parts.” Well these are all true!
At CareLink, we do our best to provide Microfinance loans to women from the same community, often living in the same neighborhoods, or members of the same small church congregation. We find that this approach increases the chances of business success, and provides a vital set of relationships that our women find very gratifying and helpful.
Connecting these new business owners to each other creates a small “Mastermind” group of women that can lean on each other, share business best-practices, and support each other with weekly Bible Study groups, fellowship, prayer, and emotional encouragement.
We have funded ten women who launched a successful greenhouse project, an eight-woman bakery cooperative, a partnership of four women that launched a take-out restaurant business, and others.
Investing in communities leads to long-term, sustainable, positive change.
