Yolany, Marcia, and Cyndi thrive despite incredible odds
Nearly three years ago CareLink provided a Microfinance loan to three hardworking women in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Yolany, Marcia, and Cyndi are determined and passionate friends who had hopes of starting their own small home-based meal delivery service. They met at their little community church and dreamed and planned. Then, their pastor told them about CareLink, and their dream became a reality. Their niche? Taking orders on WhatsApp and delivering inexpensive meals quickly via motor scooter to working people in this bustling city. The business, named “Phillipians 4:13” was a huge success.
Then COVID-19 struck. The severe lock-downs and crippling business closures nearly destroyed their new business. When things started to get a little better, Yolany’s 2 year old daughter became very ill, distracting Yolany from her business and adding costs to the family budget. Marcia lost her husband to the pandemic, and Cyndi had to separate from her husband because of repeated domestic violence.
Most people would simply give up. Not these three. They supported each other, leaned on their faith, worked harder, and continued to spread the word about their business. They have been able to weather the storm. They persevered! Now that the Pandemic situation is improving, these determined entrepreneurs have a very good chance at surviving - and expanding.
Don’t bother looking up Phillipians 4:13. Here it is: ”I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Looking back, this seems a prophetic business name.
